Sergio R. Mendez, P.E., M.ASCE, President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) El Paso Branch, is the recipient of the 2019 El Paso Young Engineer of the Year Award. The award was presented to Mr. Mendez by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) El Paso Chapter at the annual Engineers Week Banquet on Friday, February 15, 2019.
This honor serves to recognize Mr. Mendez’s technical ability, professional achievements, and civic and humanitarian activities. Mr. Mendez is a Project Engineer for CONSOR Engineers, an engineering consultant company in El Paso. He is a licensed professional engineer in Texas with over 7 years of experience and has contributed to a number of major engineering projects in the City of El Paso and Texas including the El Paso Water Utilities Wastewater Masterplan, and the TXDOT Bridge Inventory, Inspection and Appraisal Program. Mr. Mendez is a graduate of the University of Texas At El Paso, earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2010 and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 2011. Mr. Mendez is a member of the El Paso Chapter of TSPE and is the current President of the El Paso Branch of ASCE, particularly serving as the Practitioner Advisor for the ASCE UTEP Student Chapter for the last 6 years. In addition to being recognized as the Young Engineer of the Year of the El Paso Chapter of TSPE, Mr. Mendez will also be nominated for the State Young Engineer of the Year.
